Lifetag Diagnostics scopes Life Science and the development of methods to diagnose pathological metabolic routes in disease. Pioneer technology is based on a brand-new diagnostic kit to Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). 

The intestinal wall is central on gut absorption control. It may be harmed and loose its cell connections resulting in pathological “openings”. Through these gaps malign components can cross to the bloodstream reaching any internal organ, being this intestinal permeability increase designated by Leaky Gut Syndrome. Apart from its own severity it is also present on the early onset of several very prominent diseases like IBD, Celiac disease and diabetes. Therefore, it is extremely important to detect intestinal permeability alterations to better monitor different pathologies.

Our product is a user-friendly kit containing an inert compound, Perm1, that may be ingested. It is not degraded reaching the intestine intact. Here, if the gut wall is healthy Perm1 is excreted, but, and only if the wall is lesioned and permeability is increased, it will cross to the bloodstream. It is later cleared in the urine where the amount of recovered Perm1 is measured, being proportional to the lesion’s extent.

IBD emerges as one of the most important diseases for gut permeability detection. Diagnosis techniques on this area are very limited, relying on abstract, indirect inflammation markers quantification and very invasive techniques. Over 4 million people are at IBD risk and not monitored and shocking data points 35% of the surgeries as unnecessary given a poor diagnosis. So, it urges to measure intestinal permeability as the most direct and earliest lesion marker. The TADA Safety Connector is a patent protected device that solves this massive global problem. The two-part device is placed on the medical tube. When pulled, the two parts separate preventing damage to the patient and spillage of blood and/or medication. The connector can easily be cleaned and re-connected again, to rapidly reinstate therapy. Using our product would reduce current annual 12 000 tons of plastic waste generated by tube accidents to zero. The global annual market for this type of product is estimated at 7.5 billion euros.
