SwissBiotech – One Nation – One Biotech Cluster

SwissBiotech unites the various biotech regions of Switzerland: in a targeted manner, the alliance raises Switzerland's profile as an economic centre abroad and positions its biotech regions as innovative and entrepreneurial focal points of research and production.

Its mission; to spread the message of Switzerland as one of the top biotech locations in the world. This will be achieved by presenting a comprehensive picture of biotechnology including research, education, economics, finance and industry.

The base for success in Biotechnology is the critical mass of research institutes and rapid Tec transfer. The vicinity to industry and well-trained workforce is another key-driver for success in economy. Recently regions in Switzerland opened a series of ‘Biotech-Parks’ thus enabling to offer ideal geographical placement of companies seeking short distances and increased know-how transfer between universities and industry. State-of-the-art technological infrastructures, productive international human resources and a traditional well publicized quality of life.

Six founding members:
Four leading Biotech regions of Switzerland (Bio Alps, Bio Polo Ticino, BioValley Basel and Greater Zurich Area) have combined efforts to streamline interests of the national Biotech sector. Selective access to the private equity business is one of their today’s services when setting up a business in Switzerland. The SWX Swiss Exchange holds a leading position in terms of life-science listings and offers companies from that industry- be they located in Switzerland or abroad – access to an internationally recognized financial marketplace. The initiative has been complimented early on by the national association of the industry, Swiss Biotech Association.
