BioTOP

BioTOP is a joint initiative established by the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg as well as the regional industry. The Aktionszentrum BioTOP is developing strategies aiming at a clear-cut commercial vision for biotechnology in the Berlin-Brandenburg area. Furthermore we offer various free services to support biotech start up companies and those who wish to settle in the region.

The BioTOP-Aktionszentrum's team is at your disposal for all matters regarding biotechnology in Berlin and Brandenburg:

  • Consultation about and presentation of R&D and infrastructure projects
  • Assistance in the canvassing of national and international biotechnology enterprises
  • Business establishing support
  • Evaluation of biotechnological projects for the economy and banks
  • Providing a contact pool and information service for the biotech-site
  • PR for biotechnology

DIB - German Association of Biotechnology Industries

DIB is the German industry association for biotechnology, supported by the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI) and its Sector Associations for Pharmaceuticals, Diagnostics, Animal Health, Medical Devices, Crop Protection and others. DIB’s role is:

- representing of interests of biotechnology companies in contacts with politicians, government, various agencies and institutions and the general public;
- representing the interests of the German biotechnology industry in Europe through active participation in international associations such as EuropaBio;

Eligible for membership in DIB are member companies of VCI which are engaged in research, development and production or render services using biotechnological methods. At present, DIB has some 175 member companies engaged in research and production of pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, agro-biotech products, enzymes, food additives etc. DIB represents large, medium-sized, and small enterprises.

DIB and its supporting organizations have quite a number of specialized committees. They take care of :

  • regulation of biotechnology (national and European level)
  • emerging biotech companies
  • intellectual property
  • pharmaceuticals
  • agro-biotechnology
  • regional aspects

SECA

The Swiss Private Equity & Corporate Finance Association (SECA) is the representative body for Switzerland‘s private equity, venture capital and corporate finance industries. SECA has the objective to promote private equity and corporate finance activities in Switzerland. Private Equity refers to equity investments in privately held, non-quoted companies ("Beteiligungsfinanzierungen"). Corporate Finance Services are advisory services related to mergers, acquisitions, buyouts and the financing of companies. Members of the SECA include equity investment companies, Banks, Corporate Finance Advisors, Auditing Companies, Management Consultants and Private Investors. The association is a non-profit organization and has the following purposes:

  • to promote corporate finance and private equity activities in the public and the relevant target groups;
  • to promote the exchange of ideas and the cooperation between members;
  • to contribute to the professional education and development of the members and their clients;
  • to represent the members views and interests in discussion with government and other bodies;
  • to establish and maintain ethical and professional standards.
